Wasn’t it wonderful??? I thought it was perfect for them, walking back through their history together by recalling what those surgeries meant to them. I can’t watch that scene enough. Sigh.

  2. McDreaming Says:

Yeah, it’s kind of embarrassing how many times I’ve watched that and the scrubcap “ILY”. Of course, I’d ditch it in a heartbeat for the NC-17 version of “Bank Robber”

  3. Carlitack Says:

That was so perfect. I sweat I can recite the whole thing. Hahaa.

  4. Carlitack Says:

    *** I swear

  5. Mara Says:

An NC17 version of “Bank Robber”…..that’s that’s, um that’s…fugedit no words, just a brain full of porny PD…yum yum

    Love the elevator love letter….

    In a word….. Perfect!

I admit, it had to grow on me though. Maybe because I could not take in all the nuances at first viewing.

Loved that Meredith delivered the ferry boat scrub cap to him for Iz’s surgery. She is his girl, for sure.

This proposal scene? I love the expression(s) on Derek’s face as he spoke. PD **is** a cutie-pie.

OMG I’ve watched this so much…I cry everytime. Such a beautiful scene. OH…and he is soooo freakin hot!!!

  8. Sunshine Says:

At long last … all kinds of perfect! When Meredith popped into the scrub room with Derek’s ferry boat scrub cap I cried real tears. Then yet again when they were in the elevator. Cute how the Chief guided her to the right one! Patrick was spot-on in every scene in this episode. His smile there just before they kissed was wonderful!

Today is the anniversary for the original airdate March 27 2005 of Episode 1 A Hard Day’s Night.

So look forward to what Maddie’s thoughts will be!

I don’t even know how many times I’ve watched this scene already! it’s the best 3 minutes in Grey’s Anatomy history! :-) And I cry every time! It’s really a perfect proposal for them! SO MUCH BETTER than the cupid-threw-up room! And while PD was indeed spot on in this scene — I LOVE how EP sounded emotional when she said, “And I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”

So, so perfect. Oh, and the Chief was hysterical making sure Mer got on the correct love elevator!

  10. dirtymistress11 Says:

*agrees with all the above* PLUS. How much crinkle love was there going on in that proposal scene? Even while kissing. *sighs* I had to say that here cause no one else understands but I’m sure you guys would!

  11. Maddie Says:

I’ve said it before and I’m gonna say it again..

ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! This made Grey’s Anatomy history. 5 years in the making… it was totally worth the way. The dialogue, the acting, the magic of the moment, the elevator… AMAZING!

I have watched this scene at least a squillion times. I cry every single time! It’s just… yeah… this trumps all MerDer scenes and dialogue… EVER.

I OFFICIALLY have a favorite MerDer moment. I thought it would never happen. I could never decide… but this… this was everything I had hope for, for a MerDer proposal… and so much more!

My love for MerDer has gone to new heights. Extraordinary together… you bet your ass they are!

I heart Paddy/Ellen for making this magic come to life…

    AMAZING!

  12. Sunshine Says:

    Maddie you never disappoint!

  13. McGix Says:

  14. taaury Says:

I have watched Grey’s from the beginning, and the proposal, made it all worth it. I heart Mer/Der <3

  15. smashing1900 Says:

Thanks for posting the video here on the DDD.I loved PD’s acting throughout the whole episode. I loved him in the proposal (his nervousness playing with his watch, holding his hands together, moving one step forward and one step backward, even his red ears, his smile when she finally said yes), but I just adored him in the scene when he went out of the scrub room to tell Meredith that he wasn’t ready and begged her to say yes. I almost cried when I heard his emotional and desperate voice and the eyes and his brows. Wow. He’s hot (with beard, withhout it and, especially, with his five o’clock shoadow), but he’s also an excellent actor.

  16. Sarah Says:

i wonder if mer knew that he would propose.

he shows such emotion..it is hard to believe that derek is not a “real” character.
but that goes to patrick for his amazing acting!!

  17. Sarah Says:

i love how happy he is that mer says yes!
i knew he was worried that she wouldn’t be ready..
    but WOOT GO MERDER!<3
